Manufacturer of lab-made diamonds with application in the semiconductor industry shows interest in Plovdiv

The CEO of the Turkish company Appsilon Enterprise Taylan Erol met with the Deputy Mayor Stefan Stoyanov. The company is a start-up that produces diamonds in laboratory conditions, with applications in a number of industries, including the manufacture of chips and quantum sensors.

This is the second meeting between the two sides after Stoyanov’s participation in an international business forum that was held in Istanbul earlier this year. At the forum the Deputy Mayor presented to a number of foreign companies the city’s potential in the field of high-tech manufacturing and research and development activities.

“Industrial zones and the local economy in Plovdiv are focusing more and more on high-tech manufacturing and this will be the trend for at least the next 10-15 years. These are most often smaller companies with 200-250 employees, but with extremely high added value production,” explained Stoyanov. According to him, the presence of such manufacturers will help the local economy to attract more and more investors in the sectors with high added value, which will also increase the gross domestic product.

The CEO shared that Plovdiv is in the final stages of attracting Appsilon Enterprise, and is in the shortlist with a few other destinations. The company is expected to make a decision by the end of the year and start production by the end of 2024, which will help create 100 new jobs.
