Plovdiv is selected by the specialized edition of Lonely Planet as the sixth best city in the world, which must be visited in 2015. The city of seven hills managed to overtake world tourist destinations such as Vienna, Shanghai and Toronto. Leading companies such as BBC, CNN and Euronews quoted publication, which states: “Plovdiv is one of the most beautiful ancient cities in Europe, located amidst the beautiful Rhodope Mountains and it has treasures from thousands of years combined with a nightlife and playful sense of humor. ”
“There are many reasons to explore Plovdiv, which in recent decades has been very well polished. Remarkable ruins were revealed gradually in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century. After 2000, even the ancient buildings that have been left to collect dust were transformed into fascinating museums, restaurants and hotels, ” wrote the authors of the article.
According to official data, Plovdiv is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bulgaria. Over the last nine months of this year we notice increased tourists visits by 10% despite the crisis in the sector in the country.
