Forum “Industry 4.0” – The automotive sector as a next engine for growth

On October 3rd, 2019, Plovdiv will host for the fourth consecutive year one of the most significant business forums in the country – “Industry 4.0”. Annually, over 400 business representatives, SMEs, government, local government, international consultants, European Commission representatives and digital entrepreneurs are present at the forum.

The main objective of the forthcoming conference is to determine the place of the Bulgarian business in the face of technological changes and innovations. The rapidly developing industry and specialization in key industries such as IT and automotive are highlighting our country and the Plovdiv region in particular, as an attractive destination for business development and investment attraction, especially in the field of automotive industry and outsourcing.

In recent years, Plovdiv has maintained a strong positive trend in attracting foreign direct investments (FDI). According to data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), the unemployment rate in the South Central Region (SCR) for the second quarter of 2019 is only 2.8%. According to data from the Institute for Market Economy, Plovdiv region holds the leading positions in the country by the number of jobs created in all economic sectors.

The data shows that the Municipality of Plovdiv and Trakia Economic Zone are a successful example of reviving production and are on the verge of another important step – the implementation of Industry 4.0.

The “Industry 4.0” Forum aims to show good examples, as well as opportunities for partnerships between businesses, government and local government to attract new high-tech investments and increase the industrial capacity of the country’s economy.
