Over 2 billion euros have been invested in Trakia Economic Zone

Kaufland will expand its logistics center near Rakovski

“The successful business model of Trakia Economic Zone (TEZ) has helped to the establishment of leading international companies in Bulgaria and to the expansion of existing productions, which in turn is an indicator of the good conditions for investments in Bulgaria.” This was stated by the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov during a meeting with representatives of the diplomatic bodies. The event was held in Rakovski Industrial Zone, part of Trakia Economic Zone, where Minister Karanikolov presented to the ambassadors of countries all over the world the opportunities for investments in our country.

“More than 2 billion euros are invested in TEZ. “Trakia Economic Zone” is the face of Bulgaria, it is an example of a successful public-private partnership, an example of cooperation between municipalities, the state and business, “said The Governor of Plovdiv Region Zdravko Dimitrov.

“TEZ is the largest economic gathering in the country. The challenges over the last 20 years help us to give our experience to those who want to start such projects today, “said The Mayor of Plovdiv Ivan Totev.

The ambassadors visited one of the factories of ABB in Rakovski area and the Kaufland logistics base.

ABB is a technology leader in the field of power and electrical equipment products, robotics and motions, industrial automation and energy networks, serving residential, industrial, transport and infrastructure customers around the world. ABB builds its first production facility in TEZ in 2009, and the second factory (next to the first) was opened in 2012. The total value of ABB’s investments in the Rakovski zone exceeds 43 million dollars.

The Kaufland logistics center is focused the company’s entire know-how on the reception, storage and preservation of goods. 300 trucks arrive daily at the base. This year is planned the start of expansion of the logistics center.

The most of the foreign investors have expanded their activities and attracted other companies, said the chairman of “Cluster Trakia Economic Zone” and co-founder of TEZ engineer Plamen Panchev. He announced that by the end of the year in Rakovski zone will be established an educational and qualification center, oriented towards the companies in TEZ.
