Intuitive Surgical, the U.S.-based innovator in robotic-assisted surgery and producer of the renowned Da Vinci and Ion systems, has officially launched endoscope manufacturing at its new facility in Parvomay, located in Bulgaria’s Plovdiv region. The milestone comes three years after the company announced a €42 million investment aimed at establishing a strategic production site in the country.
The Bulgarian plant is expected to become a key production hub in Intuitive’s global supply chain, with plans for more than 70% of the company’s endoscopes to be manufactured there in the near future. This development positions Bulgaria as an essential player in the fast-growing global market for high-precision medical technology.
“Bulgaria’s reputation for excellence in optical engineering and its growing ecosystem for medical innovation, combined with its strategic European location, made it a natural choice for our new facility,” said Harald Haigis, General Manager at Intuitive.
