Three students from Plovdiv University received one-year scholarships for university education in the city of Shenzhen in China. They are Borislav Borisov, Vesselina Urumova and Christina Kristeva who study Chinese.
Scholarships amount of 5000 euro per person and are provided by the municipality of Shenzhen with the support of the mayor Mr. Sue Qin after his visit to Plovdiv in March this year. They were presented by the mayor eng. Ivan Totev and Mr. Derek Feng, Senior Associate in the Department of Foreign Affairs of the municipality in the Chinese twin city.
For three months Derek Feng will work in our city with Plovdiv Municipality and the Bulgarian-Chinese Association for Business Development to deepen exchange and cooperation between the oldest living city in Europe and the youngest metropolis in China.
The twinning between the two cities is towards strengthening cultural and educational exchange. In Shenzhen will be opened office, in which will operate representatives of the Bulgarian-Chinese Association for Business Development. They will be there for about two years and will leave in September, recalled the mayor eng. Ivan Totev. He announced the upcoming concert on August 23 at the Ancient Theatre of the Symphony Orchestra of Shenzhen.
Mr. Derek Feng also said that the goal is to increase cooperation in the field of science, education, tourism and business between Plovdiv and Shenzhen. The guest shared his impression of his hospitable welcome and the nature, heritage and landmarks in the city of the hills. As a sign of deepening bilateral relations Derek Fenk gave the mayor Ivan Totev invitation of his colleague Mr. Sue Qin for an Exhibition on high technologies in China in November. The mayor responded with an invitation to the Chinese representatives to visit the celebration of the city in September.
The president of the Bulgarian-Chinese Association for Business Development Mr. Angel Hristosov reminded that at the end of last month we are expecting representatives of companies wishing to invest abroad in Plovdiv. He announced that next month is expected visit of a delegation from the local Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which is a great opportunity for the presentation of the city. There are many fields of work in all areas said Angel Hristosov.
