The global giant Liebherr opened a new plant for concrete trucks in Plovdiv.
This is the third investment in a new production base of the group in Plovdiv, and this time the location is within the boundaries of the city on a plot of 37,000 sq.m. with a built-up production and warehouse area of 12,000 sq.m. The investment in Liebherr Concrete Technologies Maritsa plant amounts to EUR 17 million. “Liebherr” is one of the most famous success stories in our country, an example of the incredible success of Plovdiv and TEZ. One of the largest mechatronics companies as well as a major employer – with over 2,500 employees and massive investments every few years.
One of the owners of the German company – Philip Liebherr – arrived for the opening ceremony yesterday.
“I am glad to be in Plovdiv to greet you on behalf of the Liebherr family […] Liebherr has a global presence with over 140 group companies in over 50 countries and 40 production sites, yet we remain a 100% family business. All shareholders are members of the Liebherr family. […] We make long-term investments, including during the pandemic. For 2021 alone, we have invested over 700 million euros.
We have been in Plovdiv for over 20 years. Our third site here is equipped with the latest production machinery to meet the growing demand in Europe for high quality concrete mixers. This location allows us to produce more efficiently for customers in Eastern Europe. In our factory in Germany, the elements produced here are assembled for customers in Western Europe and other parts of the world.
With the new factory, we are opening a new chapter and providing our customers with technologies of the future,” said Philipp Liebherr, who specifically addressed all employees and thanked them for their key role in the success of the business conglomerate.
