Plovdiv-based bicycle manufacturer Leader is investing EUR 25 million for the production of e-bicycles in a new plant near Plovdiv. This was announced by the Minister of Innovation and Growth Alexander Pulev, who handed over a Class A Certificate to the executive director Dimitar Zlatanov.
The company received a certificate issued under the Investment Promotion Act (IPA) for an Investment Project for the construction of a new factory for the production and trade of electric bicycles on the territory of the Kuklen Industrial Zone, part of the Trakia Economic Zone. The project envisages an investment of EUR 14 million which will create 330 new jobs. The company specified that a total of EUR 25 million will be invested in the plant which will have a capacity of 300 000 electric bicycles per year.
Minister Pulev pointed out that 4 more investment projects with a total value of EUR 21.5 million are in the process of being certified by the Bulgarian Investment Agency for Plovdiv and the region, with the potential to create 224 new jobs. “The investments are in manufacturing, and the companies are from Turkey, Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria,” he emphasized.
According to his words, from the beginning of the year until now, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth has certified 6 projects in Plovdiv and the region with a total value of EUR 150 million, which will create over 1,500 new jobs. Five of the projects are in the manufacturing sector, and one is for warehousing and logistics.
