Startup Weekend Plovdiv is one of the events in the calendar of the global organization Startup Weekend and the event is organized every year in over 700 cities around the world. This weekend will take place the third seminar of its kind for the city of Plovdiv, which aims to bring together young people and leading practitioners from around the world with entrepreneurial spirit and ambition to turn their ideas into reality.
How does Startup Weekend Plovdiv proceeds?
The competition begins with a presentation of the idea and its development. For this purpose within 54 hours programmers, marketing professionals, designers and enthusiasts form teams with each other, share ideas and produce new products.
The ultimate goal is launching a new business. The final score of the teams is awarded by a jury of professionals, leading European and global investors and representatives of local businesses.
The event is a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs and talented programmers to meet mentors from leading companies. The goal is to turn the ideas into products and to obtain a development plan with the joint efforts of the teams. Great ideas for starting business ventures are born often in events such as thоse.
In recent years, with the development of the IT industry in Plovdiv, there’s a new dynamic and evolving ecosystem of new companies and a new wave of entrepreneurs. There are over 6000 employed individuals in Plovdiv in the IT and outsourcing sector and by 2020 their number is expected to be twice as much.
