Two awards for The Ancient Stadium of Philippopolis were awarded to Plovdiv Municipality in the competition “Building of the Year” 2014. One is a special award for revitalization of archaeological cultural heritage and improvement of the quality of the urban environment in the historic center of the city.
The Ancient Stadium of Philippopolis won the Audience Award – Building of the Year 2014. In the online voting – total votes were 12,427 for 77 buildings, from which for The Ancient Stadium of Philippopolis voted 3623.
For the 13th consecutive time the competition “Building of the Year” made a review of the most beautiful buildings of Bulgaria in the current year. The competition is held under the patronage of The Ministry of Regional Development in cooperation with professional organizations for architecture, design and construction investment. There were nominated 77 newly built or reconstructed public and private projects completed in 2014, they were judged by a commitee of 27 leading experts and representatives of business and culture, chaired by Mrs. Denitsa Nikolova, Deputy Minister of Regional Development. The winners in this category were announced on December 10 at an official ceremony and the prestigious statues of the sculptor Petko Moskov were presented to the media at a press conference today in Plovdiv Municipality by the Mayor of Plovdiv eng. Ivan Totev.
