Bulgaria is gaining serious investment interest from its neighbour Turkey. This became evident from the International Business and Economic Forum organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency held in Istanbul on 26th January. The forum was attended by over 200 business representatives, mostly from the Automotive and Mechatronics, and Healthcare sectors. Bulgaria’s delegation had the opportunity to visit some of the biggest industrial zones in Istanbul, one of them with special focus on companies operating in the Automotive sector.
Mr. Stefan Stoyanov, Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv and Head of Invest Plovdiv, had the opportunity to hold one-to-one meetings with many chief rerpesentatives of various companies, many of them operating in the manufacturing sector. The rapid development of Plovdiv and the continuous expansion of the industrial zones surrounding it have not been left unnoticed and companies from all over the world are expressing growing interest in the region.
In the last few years Plovdiv transformed itself into one of the investment hotspots in South East Europe attracting large investments in various industries and sectors. With over 200 medium and large manufacturing companies operating in the region, a rapidly growing IT&BPO sector and continuous positive net migration, Plovdiv has become a prefered nearshoring destination with qualified workforce, great location and connectivity, and favorable business climate.
The region already saw its first Class A investor for 2023 – Amer Sports which will open a second factory in the region of Plovdiv later this year, bringing Bulgaria at the forefront of the ski manufacturing industry.
