Deputy Mayor Stefan Stoyanov held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bulgaria, His Excellency Simon van der Burg. The two discussed opportunities for cooperation between the Municipality and the Embassy to stimulate relations between Bulgaria and the Netherlands in the fields of education, science and business.
One of the topics of the meeting was related to the development of research activities as Deputy Mayor Stoyanov highlighted the local center “PlantaSYST”, which is the first international research center with direct funding from Europe. For his part, His Excellency shared the good practices of the Dutch giant Philips, whose RnD activities in Eindhoven marked the beginning of the city’s transformation into one of the best-developed smart centers in the country.
The ambassador was impressed by the rapid development of the city and the success of the educational system at the local level as a pioneer in the digitalization of educational processes in the country. His visit will continue with meetings with Dutch companies and entrepreneurs operating locally. Among them is software developer Kodar, which is owned by Strypes, part of the Dutch ICT Group – one of the largest ICT companies in the world.
