Plovdiv will host the most significant event in the field of the outsourcing industry in Bulgaria in 2019. The annual conference of the Bulgarian Outsourcing Association, which traditionally gathers the whole constellation of world-proven experts in the field of outsourced business processes, services and high technologies, will be held on 17th May 2019 in the City of the hills.
The outsourcing industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of Bulgarian economy. Its annual growth is by double digits, and in 2017 the sector’s share of GDP is 3.6%.
“In the recent years, the outsourcing industry is developing extremely dynamically and enables Bulgarian regions to become stronger and more competitive. There are already over 80 companies in the sector in Plovdiv. With over 7,000 people working in them and the trend continues to be very positive. We are proud to host the 6th Annual Conference in the year in which Plovdiv will be the European Capital of Culture”, said Stefan Stoyanov, Deputy Mayor of “Education, Business Development, European Policies and International Cooperation” in Plovdiv Municipality.
According to Ivaylo Slavov, The chairman of the Bulgarian Outsourcing Association and CEO of Bulpros, the outsourcing industry is the one that returns young people to Bulgaria by enabling them to develop and provides a good standard of living. “Our goal is to make Bulgaria more visible on the global map of outsourcing destinations and thus to contribute to the sustainable development of the Bulgarian economy. To do this, however, several more cities need to be developed as centers offering outsourcing services. All of them can learn from the good example of Plovdiv, where the local government has created all the necessary prerequisites for the development of the outsourcing industry,” accentuated Mr. Slavov.
On the day of the conference, the Bulgarian Oscars for Technology – the Innovation, Technology and Outsourcing Awards of the Bulgarian Outsourcing Association and the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies – will be distributed as well.
At this year’s ceremony Plovdiv company “Programista” grabbed two of the prestigious statuettes – the IT product of the Year and the Innovation in Technology. Two awards – for the Research and Development Center of the Year and for the Most Innovative Workspace of the Year were awarded to ScaleFocus, a company that also has an office in Plovdiv. Two of the awarded companies this year, also have offices in the City of the hills – Bulpros and Lirex. Bulpros won the award in Outsourcing Service Provider of the Year and Lirex was awarded the IT Project of the Year.
