Bulgaria’s export to third countries increases by 26 %

Main trading partners of Bulgaria are Turkey, China, The Russian Federation

For the period between January and May 2017, Bulgaria’s export to third countries increased by 26.0% compared to the first five months of 2016. According to data from the National Statistical Institute, we have sold goods worth 7 244.4 million BGN levs.

In May 2017 Bulgaria’s export to third countries increased by 42.0% according to the same month of the previous year and amounted to 1,591.2 billion BGN levs.

Despite the positive export data, Bulgaria’s foreign trade balance with third countries is negative and amounts to -1 403.5 million BGN levs. The reason is that the import from third countries is growing ahead. For the period January – May 2017 it increased by 34.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. Its total value is 8 647.9 million BGN levs.

Bulgaria’s main trading partners are Turkey, China, The Russian Federation, Egypt, Serbia and The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, which form 51.5% of the export to third countries.
