The Forum “Industry 4.0” in Plovdiv will reveal the future of production

On October 17, 2018 Plovdiv will be a host of one of the most important business forums in the country – “Industry 4.0”. This year the theme is production of a new generation, or how connected devices and intelligent technologies optimize the work process.

Guests of the event will be the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov, The Director of Artificial Intelligence, strategy and transformation in “Ericsson” Milap Patel, Veolia’s Regional Director Francois Debergh and many other specialists.

For a third consecutive year, Plovdiv is the logical choice to host the conference, whose main goal is to trace the place of Bulgarian business in the sea of technological changes and innovations and to observe what steps the companies and industries are taking to become part of the new wave.

Plovdiv maintains strong positive trend in attraction of foreign direct investments (FDI) over the last years. On a net FDI inflow, the city is among the country’s leaders.

The unemployment at a municipal level is more than twice lower than it was in 2013. From 6.6% in 2013, now the unemployment is below 3%.

According to the last report about the regions of The Institute for Market Economics, Plovdiv region had created more jobs in all the economic sectors than the whole Northern Bulgaria.

The highest growth in employment in absolute values of the country is observed in Plovdiv region. The total number of created new jobs in Plovdiv region is 38 000 for 2017 (according to the National Statistics Institute data as of March 2018).

These data are indicative that Plovdiv Municipality and Trakia Economic Zone are successful example of reviving the production and they are on the brink of yet another important step – introduction of Industry 4.0.
